READING “Where Are You Blue?” and enjoying the laughter that it’s bringing to my kids. When Blue Dot is running late, his whereabouts get caught up in a hilarious chain of miscommunication.
“Okay! Blue Dot is on his way.”……….“What? Blue Dot has joined the ballet?”
EXCITED to nominate a librarian for the American Library Associations, “I Love My Librarian Award”. Do you have a librarian in your life who educates and entertains your child at story hour? Do you have a librarian in your life who always seems to have helpful suggestions for awesome picture books? Does your child have a school librarian who has motivated and inspired them to read over summer break? If you have one of these wonderful treasures in your life, nominate them!
OBSESSED with The Literary Man – Obidos Hotel in Portugal. It’s an elegant and understated hotel with books
in every corner. Until today I had never heard of “bibliotherapy” but I’m positive that I’m in need of it.
IMPRESSED by Byrd Pinkerton’s article about how children’s books are great tools for helping children and adults learn difficult concepts. I especially like where he emphasizes the importance of asking kids questions about the book, after the story is over, “It’s important, he says, that the kids get a chance to answer the questions through discussion. That kind of conversation does more than just stimulate children to think deeply about the books that they read. It also teaches them how to talk.”
Have a wonderful weekend!
