My daughters can not stop reading these- there are 50 different topics in this series. These are single topic, hardcover, 32 page books that are jammed with cool photographs and easy to read information. The text is perfect for an early Kindergarten to 3rd grade reader. And the best thing….they are only $4.99 each. I’ve just ordered Castles, Poisonous Animals, Living in Space, and Weather for our home shelf!

The “See Inside” series has flaps galore. “Great Cities” features 13 cities (and 70+ flaps) with intricate illustrations, historical landmarks, and tons of great information. You will explore Sydney, Venice, Shanghai, Cairo, and others. Other favorites from this flap series are Famous Palaces, Trains, and How Things Work. What little fingers don’t love opening flaps to discover new things?

This series is for those kids that love reading with a flashlight at bedtime (or anytime!). Each open spread has hidden pictures only seen while a flashlight shines through the page. There are 11 in the series… other top picks are Secrets of the Seashore, on the Space Station, and Secrets of the Vegetable Garden. I know many cousins getting these for Christmas from me!

Use these sturdy and colorful stickers to experience traditional clothing from around the globe. Your child will decorate characters going to a Midsummer’s Day party in Sweden, a Peruvian festival, a Les Falles party in Valencia, Spain, and a folk dance in Bangkok just to name a few. It’s heart wrenching to feature just one because Usborne publishes about 135 different sticker books.
From time to time I like to sit down with my kids to look at the titles and covers of books on the Usborne website and the selection at our local bookstore. We write down the titles they are interested in and they can either purchase them then and there with their saved allowance or they can add the titles to their wish list for Santa. A gift like an Usborne Lift-the-Flap book will provide hours of fun for a young reader on Christmas morning.
